No other artist has so decisively epitomized the beautiful
face of the French Belle Époque than Alphonse Mucha. After having created his
first poster for the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt, the Czech artist enjoyed a
meteoric career and was a dominant force in turn-of-the-century design.
Alphonse Mucha’s (1860 – 1939) stylized paintings of beautiful women and lovely
plants are exemplars of a timeless aesthetic.
